Tara Pradhan, a 50-year-old resident of Kanchira Tole Gaurijung Jhapa, has overcome significant challenges in her life, particularly those stemming from her involvement in an armed conflict. Living with her spouse, two sons, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, Tara’s family once relied on daily wage labor and faced financial hardships.
Tara’s transformative journey began when she joined the Chadani agriculture women’s group, supported by SNJD/LWF. Despite the mental health challenges she faced from her past, Tara started saving NPR 100 monthly and took part in training on innovative agricultural techniques.
With support from SNJD/LWF, Tara began cultivating spinach in a plastic tunnel on a small plot of land. In just three months, she earned between NPR 50,000 and NPR 65,000. Inspired by her success, she expanded her vegetable farming and earned the nickname “Organic Vegetable Owner” in her community.
Now, Tara can save and share organic vegetables with her neighbors, and her story serves as an inspiration for others, highlighting the power of resilience and hard work. She expresses heartfelt gratitude to SNJD/LWF and its donors for their support, which has helped families like hers find hope and improve their economic situation.
Tara’s journey is a testament to the belief that with perseverance, dreams can indeed become a reality.
