With financial support from the Lutheran World Federation Nepal, the Teachers Training on Gender Sensitization (TOT) was effectively held at Pashupati Secondary School in Rajgadh, Bahradashi Rural Municipality, from June 22 to June 24, 2024. This program was a component of the Power project, which Social Network for Justice and Development, the local partner, carried out. Twenty-two teachers from various schools in Bahradashi attended the program.
The course, which was given by gender sensitization specialist Mr. Sohanlal Shrestha, was designed to give educators a thorough understanding of gender sensitization. They would be able to create an inclusive learning environment that supports gender equality and effectively lead gender-sensitization lessons for students as a result. The trainers were given necessary resources, such as books and flip charts, to help them in their future activities. The three days of instruction included a variety of subjects, such as the distinctions between gender and sex, the socialization process, good versus bad touch, and gender-based violence and inequality. Furthermore, the teachers were furnished with presenting guidelines to improve their instruction on these subjects. Throughout the program, the teachers engaged fully, and on the last day, they presented their learnings in groups during a micro-teaching demo session.
The instructors now have the abilities and information needed to create a more fair and inclusive learning environment in their schools, which advances the larger objective of gender equality in education.
